Kachhawa Rajputs claimed their descent from Kush, the younger son of Lord Rama of Ayodhya and are Suryavanshi Rajputs, From Ayodhya they established their kingdum at Gwalior and later in 966 AD Duleh Rai established himself at Dausa. In 1036 AD Kankil Deo conquered Amber from Meenas and shifted his capital. Sawai Jai Singh II With his foresite built the beautiful town of Jaipur and shifted his capital to Jaipur from Amber. The foundation of Jaipur was laid by him on 18th Nov. 1727. The present ruler of Jaipur traces his lineage from Sodh Deo 966 AD. Jaipur, the Pink City is popularly known for its architectural splendour. Jaipur is the capital city of the State of Rajasthan in India. Amber Fort

Amber is located about 11 kilometres from Jaipur. The picturesque Amber Fort is a great architecture a blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture on the top of the hill. It was constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Mirza Raja Jai Singh I. The interior of the palace exhibits intricate paintings and fine carvings embedded with preciours stones and mirror work. There is a famous Shila Devi Temple.

Jaigarh Fort

A spectacular fort on the hilltop overlooking Jaipur . The fort had a strategic significance in the ancient times. It was a weapon producing centre and cannon foundry. It houses a largest man made cannon called the 'Jaiban'. Jaigarh was once responsible for the security of both Jaipur and Amber.

Hawa Mahal

The Palace of winds is a five storey building built by Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1798 AD. The monument has 365 windows with hanging latticed balconies. It is beautiful piece of architecture. Sawai Pratap Singh dedicated this building to Lord Krishna

City Palace Of Jaipur

Located in the heart of the walled city is this beautiful palace a wonderful architecture which is a blend of the Mughal and Rajput architecture. Chandra Mahal is in the centre which gives a fine view of the gardens of the Palace.The fountains cover the middle of the paved path between Chandra Mahal and Badal Mahal. Diwan-e-Khaas has a marble paved gallery and the Mubarak Mahal has a museum with collection of costumes, jewellery, chariots, paintings, carpets, arts and many other interesting items including a huge collection of armoury used at that time.

Isar Lat

The tallest structure in the walled city is IsarLat built by Maharaja Ishwari Singh (1744-51 AD). It gives a complete arial view of the city. It is a victory tower built to commemorate the victory against his step brother Madho Singh and the Marathe forces.

Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar is among five observatories Sawai Jai Sing Ji II that he built. It has huge instruments in masonry to study the movement of stars and the constellations. There is a huge sun dial which provides the time. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh marked the land in City Place premises For Jantar Mantar in 1728 AD and Jantar Mantar was ready by 1734 Ad.

Albert Hall

The Albert Hall is situated in the Ram Niwas Garden. It was constructed in 1876 AD to commemorate the visit of Prince Albert. It has a museum and houses collections of royal weaponry, items of archaeological interest and handicrafts. Maharaja Ram Singh planned the beautiful gardens for the people of Jaipur.

Laxminarayan Temple

Situated below the Moti Doongri Fort is the intricately carved temple of Laxminarayan. The temple is of white marble and is known as the Birla Mandir.
